You probably realise by now that GP is a whole different ball game than Secondary School English.

Many students feel overwhelmed by GP because they find it really broad and diverse, so they don’t even know where to start when preparing for the exams.

Some think that content is king, so they focus on memorising as much as possible and then, regurgitate in the exam.

On the other hand, there are those who try to reverse engineer model essays from top schools, hoping that the templates will help them in exams.

Unfortunately, despite putting in the effort, they still end up not scoring for the subject.

So What’s Missing?

If you look at the official Cambridge syllabus, you’ll notice that GP is testing students’ ability to think critically, to construct cogent arguments and to communicate their ideas clearly.

However, it’s common for schools to focus more on content rather than the right exam answering techniques.

In fact, many schools provide their students with thick stacks of content packages and bulletins for the 12 different themes in the syllabus for them to read.

As a result, students feel overwhelmed by all the information and get overloaded from memorising content blindly. They are stuck and paralysed even before they start.

The truth is: With the right techniques, students can still score for their Paper 1 Essay Question even if they do not have much content.

This is because content is only useful when you know how to use it.

That’s why it’s more important to focus on the right techniques to understand the question and answer accordingly.

You need to know how to adapt and apply the content according to the context and requirements of the exam question.

It’s a pity that most students do not know this. It’s not their fault though because schools generally do not teach these things.

This is the reason why at EduEdge, we’ve created…

A Comprehensive FORMULA-Based Approach!

Our ‘Formula-Style’ method helps students break down questions and structure their answers easily, in a logical and persuasive manner, for any section of the GP paper and for any topic tested.

You will be guided every step of the way on your GP journey with us.

Through our robust GP Programme, you’ll learn how to:

  • Understand the exact requirements of the question and answer systematically without going out of point.
  • Brainstorm ideas from different perspectives easily and quickly for a balanced argument.
  • Structure your paragraphs, organise your thoughts and elaborate on points with ease, making your argument more coherent and persuasive.
  • Incorporate relevant examples at appropriate parts of your argument to sufficiently support your stand.
  • Pick out the correct clues and points from the comprehension passage to provide accurate and complete answers, especially for the Application Question (AQ).
  • Exam strategies to maximise the limited time in the exam, especially for Paper 2.
  • Be more productive and effective when studying GP because all the relevant content and how they should be strategically used in essays and AQ have been summarised into bite-sized portions for ease of reference.
  • Overcome your psychological barriers and feel confident when entering the exam hall because you have a specific direction to approach any question, be it in Paper 1 or Paper 2.

Basically, we’ve got you covered!

There is a step-by-step formula for every single section of the GP exam to guide you in your thinking and ensure a logical flow in your answers.

You’ll always know exactly what to do rather than answering questions aimlessly.

Using our method, 82.7% of our students achieved A/B for their A-Level GP!

The EduEdge Team

What sets the EduEdge Language Specialist apart from all other teachers or tutors?

Only applicants who have cleared all 3 rounds of the interview will be hired.

All applicants are carefully selected and stringently screened.

The newly hired teachers will then go through 6 to 12 months worth of specialised training from our Founder, Mr Edwin Edangelus Cheng.

During this period, they will need to clear 3 learning exams and clock a minimum of 1,000 training hours on our unique formulaic style of teaching before they may be certified to teach.

Due to the rigour of our training process, on average, 3 out of 5 trainees will drop out before they even complete the programme.

This is our promise and commitment to students and parents to ensure that only Language Specialists, who are exceedingly good in what they do, are allowed to coach our students.

Scoring For GP Is Equally Important As Other Subjects

As you may already know, GP is a compulsory subject when calculating a student’s University Admission Scores (UAS) for applying to courses in local universities in Singapore.

This is the formula for the calculation:

UAS = H1 General Paper Grade + Best 4 Content Subject Grades (i.e. 3 H2 & 1 H1) + H1 Project Work

The maximum UAS is 90 points, where more points mean a higher chance of you getting your dream course.

The truth is many popular and prestigious courses like Medicine, Dentistry, and Sciences require straight As for a student to even be considered for admission.

Furthermore, some courses like Law even require you to have a minimum B grade in GP before you are qualified to apply.

As you can see, it’s crucial that you also score well for GP on top of your content subjects.

This will widen the choices that you can make when it comes down to the university courses application process.

If you think about it, you only have less than 1 year & 8 months to prepare for A-Levels, as compared to 4 years for O Levels.

So time is of the essence when you are a JC student preparing for the national exams.

The earlier you start, the more time you’ll have to master the content, thinking processes and techniques to score for GP.
